Dallas throws

Dallas Thompson competes in the weight throw at a recent meet. Thompson took first in this event at Northwest Missouri State on Friday. 

Track and field’s last chance meet took place in Maryville, Missouri, for the Griffons and was their final chance to compete before their conference meet. Missouri Western faced Northwest Missouri State along with Southwest Baptist University in the track and field meet on Friday.  The main highlight of the event was Missouri Western’s throwers dominating the day with Kallin Sheppard placing first in shot put and first in the weighted throw last week.  Not far behind her was Saquana Washington who placed second in shot put and Sydney Stigall with second place in the weighted throw.

 The women runners for the Griffons also had a good meet, with Megan Gillen coming in second in the mile run and Madison Nash in first place in the 3000 meter.

On the men’s side, the throwers for Missouri Western came to win with Jordan Garr coming in first in shot put and Dallas Thompson third in shot put and first in the weighted throw. Graham Buresh came in second place in the 200 meter and his teammate Jacob Oyler coming in third in the mile run.  Riley Gorham came in fifth place in the 800 meter with a time of 1:58.59.  The conference meet will be February 27th-28th and will be located in Topeka, Kansas.

Jordan Garr – fourth Weight Throw

Nate Daugherty-Parrish – fifth Shot Put and third Weight Throw

Drake Stelljes – fifth 400 meter

Spencer Cooper – fifth 400 meter

Konner Larkin – second Mile

Joshua Zachary – fourth Mile
