The Career Development Center has a career closet that is for any students who are in need of professional clothing.
Missouri Western Career Center Director, Megan Raney helped re-launch this opportunity, as it is something that has been done before in the past. Raney said a clothing closet has existed in the past through Griffs Give Back.
“This serves as an opportunity to provide professional clothing to students in need,” Raney said. “Students are allowed to take items that would constitute up to one outfit per semester. We’re also looking to partner with JC Penny this Spring for a Suit Up event.
Junior at Missouri Western, Dylan Aspelund said this is a great opportunity for the students.
“It is great news that Missouri Western is putting this closet together,” Aspelund said. “Professional clothes are expensive, and being college students, we already don’t have any money. So it’s nice that we have this opportunity to get nice clothes for job interviews, or any form of professional business we might need them for.”
Aspelund said he wishes this option was always available.
“It’s nice that they’re putting this together now, although it would’ve been nice to have this whole time because it is such a good idea, and will really help,” Aspelund said. “I feel bad for the students who didn’t have this available to them before Missouri Western added this closet.”
The closet is accepting donations at the time through the Career Development Center.
