K.C. Ramsell is a Griffon soccer player who works to be the best on and off the field.
As soon as she started running, she said she wanted to play soccer.
“I started when I was about two and a half or three.” Ramsell said. “I fell in love with it and played since.”
Growing up in Bellevue, Nebraska, she is an avid fan of the Huskers.
Her car is decked out in Husker merchandise.
Ramsell attended Bellevue East High School, where she was a member of the soccer team.
She was a six time NSAA Academic All-State selection, and was also named to the 2010 and 2011 Honorable Mention All-State team.
Ramsell was the captain of her high school squad both as a junior and senior.
She was selected as her team’s 2011 Offensive MVP.
She had 24 career goals while also being a solid student, earning an Academic Letter for being in the top 10% of her class.
Other accolades include being a member of the National Honor Society and her high school Honor Roll.
Off of the field Ramsell has made the MIAA Honor Roll twice at Western, on the field she has a career total of five goals and five assists with a total of 15 points.
Ramsell is a nursing major at Missouri Western.
She chose nursing because she loves to care for people and kids and wants to be a pediatric nurse when she graduates.
Her teammate Sarah Lyle believes that Ramsell is a hard worker.
“KC is a nursing major and you can always find her studying for her practicals or exams,” Sarah Lyle said.
“She works hard to be a good student and has such a bright future in front of her.”
Her close friend and teammate Tara Russell believes that Ramsell applies her self in all aspects of life.
“KC is an extremely driven person, on and off the field.” Tara Russell said. “She has a great work ethic, as shown through the fact that she’s able to juggle nursing school and soccer and ultimately succeed in both. It’s apparent that she is motivated to do great in everything she does.”
Ramsell noted that her mother has never missed a game while she has played for Missouri Western.
“She has always loved watching me play and supporting me,” Ramsell said.
The rest of her family tries to make as many games as they can.
Her family is her biggest fan club and they support her through everything.
“For the last two years the team invites their families up for a dinner and to carve pumpkins as a huge group,” Ramsell said. “It is a really good time to get to spend with the families and the team all in one.”
The memory that stands out above all the rest, goes all the way back to her freshman year.
“When I was a Freshman I scored four goals in my first two games and that just gave me the moral and confidence to keep playing and working hard,” Ramsell said.
Outside of soccer, she is a huge fan of Disney movies, with her favorite being “The Little Mermaid.”
“’Frozen’ would be close runner up,” Ramsell said.
She played Elsa this past summer at a Mustangs game and besides it being hot, she absolutely loved it.
“I took pictures with about 500 kids”, Ramsell said. ” “ The other day I was watching a Disney movie and my mom said that my facial expressions were hilarious.”
Ramsell enjoys Disney Movies because she is a happy person and Disney movies make her feel young again. Although she is a Soccer player, with aspirations of being a nurse, she still tries to be down to earth and love life to the fullest.
