To kick-off the 2018 fall semester the Student Government Association (SGA) in collaboration with the Center for Student Involvement will be giving students the opportunity to enjoy the St. Joseph community, along with many Missouri Western organizations.
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. outside of Blum Union, students will be able to meet and associate with local St. Joseph businesses, along with many Missouri Western organizations. There will be many opportunities for employment for students looking for a job. For students hoping to join a fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha, Alpha Sigma Phi, Phi Beta Sigma, Phi Delta Theta and Tau Kappa Epsilon will all be recruiting. For others wanting to just relax and have a fun time, there will be music, giveaways, samples and much more.
This event isn’t exclusively for freshmen either. Every student is welcome to attend, and for senior Lonnie Dobard western warm-up is an event that he looks forward to each year.
“With me only living in St. Jospeh for the school year, I have to find a part-time job to keep me financially comfortable, and this event helps me with that each year,” Dobard said.
This is an event that is a can’t miss says Oganya Agbaji, a volunteer student for the international center.
“You go, you get free stuff and you get to learn about a lot of different organizations. Who doesn’t like free stuff? It’s a can’t miss,” Agbaji said.
This event typically welcomes more than 1,000 students and 50 business each year.
