Find better role models

I may not be “cool” or “part of the scene” but I cannot stand the people that gain so much media attention for doing nothing special.

These people include the Kardashians, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Amber Rose, the Teen Moms and whoever else seems to be headlining news across the country. What have they really done for society? Excluding Miley Cyrus’s and Justin Bieber’s early careers, since those are the periods in which they were technically musicians, but now they’re less musicians and more public embarrassments.

What do you think the rest of the world thinks when they see these people acting stupid on television? They think all Americans are like that, and unfortunately because of shows like “Keeping up with the Kardashians,” people are seeing them as role models.

Why is it that when Kim and Kanye’s baby was born that it was the leading story for a week and yet there is an ongoing conflict costing thousands of lives, including Americans?

I think I know what the root of the problem is: our news networks, given that most of our national news stations don’t report real news and are driven by opinion and not hard facts. Another problem stems from celebrity gossip “news” such as TMZ or E! News. The people that run these networks believe that they are journalists. I’m sorry, but they are not.

Journalists are the type of people that are unbiased with their content, spend countless hours getting their stories right, put themselves in harm’s way to inform the world what is going on and make reporting the news their priority.

Just to clarify, while I believe the Griffon News does great things, this is more about national news outlets.

So please, instead of trying to figure out what Kim’s baby’s name is or what celebrity feud is going on, actually look and see what is going on in the world and look up to the people that actually try to make a difference. Whether it is police officers, firefighters, teachers or just ordinary people that try to do great things.
