It’s the rival of all rivals, and it’s the last game of the season that Missouri Western Griffons will face the Northwest Bearcats. The last rematch against Missouri western and Northwest will be February 22 at 3:30 P.M.
On February 5th Missouri western men’s basketball team returned home with a lost, ending score was 92 to 64 a 28 point lost.
Senior guard Kalvin Balque says, “He’s going to go out there and play as hard as he can in order to give his team a chance to win.”
Also he adding “we need to play just as physic with them as they are with us.” which isn’t a bad way to start a game off.
Balque commented “I think we play way better at home. It’s kind of a struggle bring the win back home.”
In Balque is right about them playing better at home.
3 words can sum this right up. Home court advantage. 23 games into the season, half of the games have been home games. Out of those 12` the Griffons have won 8. Which means the Griffon men play well at home.
Dareon Jones agrees saying, “Yeah I think so., because we practice on that court everyday and our crowd gives us an edge.”
Jones say’s “I’m not a selfish player I try to get everyone involved in the game. Plus we go out every game with the mindset that we can win.”
Not forgetting Hans Thun, he says, “last game was rough, but overall I think we went out and play hard.
He ended off saying, “when we play them this time at home we need to play more physic and take over the game in order to win.”
Northwest Missouri State is now 24 games into their season, with an overall record of 18-6.
Their starting point guard DeShaun Cooper is the Stat leader in 10 category over all on his whole team.
Also senior forward Dillon Starzl is second in the same also other category. The Bearcats play well as home too. Winning 18 games at home this season. They were on a three game winning streak until they went to Joplin and returned home with a lost game score 82 to 68.
Northwest are also ready for the rematch February 22 to get back on the right foot and try to win the game.
