The Lady Griffs hopes to finish close games, play solid defense, and with two of their leading scorers back in uniform they are confident going into the game. They will face-off against the Missouri Southern Lions February 15 here at Missouri Western.
The first time these two teams met the Lady Griffons came up short. Coach Rob Edmisson felt that his team had fought hard, but they have to do a better job finishing games.
“We fought hard to get down to the last 4 to 5 minutes of the game to be within reach, but we didn’t do some of the little things.” Edmisson said.
The Griffons struggled from the freethrow line shooting (16-27), and was (15-57) from the field.
The Lady Griffons who was without their two leading scorers Sharniece Lewis and Quenisha Lockett, will have both of them in this upcoming game. With the Griffons without their two leading scorers on the offensive end, they still managed to keep the game close with their solid defense.
“It’s a great aspect to our team, especially late in the season.” Lewis said. “Our defense has been helping us win games and we take pride in it.”
The Lady Griffons also lost a few games that could have gone both ways. Junior forward Tiara Hall feels that they need to play hard for 40 minutes.
“We have to be more aggressive offensively and play hard for 40 minutes.” Hall said.
Coach Edmisson feels that they have to do the little things to finish games. “The things we have to do better is making our freethrows and taking care of the ball.” Edmisson said.
The Lady Griffs will return to action against Lincoln University, February 19 at Lincoln University.
