Soccer shutout by Central Oklahoma

Western added another loss to the record on Friday, Oct 4 after a 4-0 loss to Central Oklahoma.

The first half was quiet. The Griffons managed four of five shots on goal, while the Bronchos had four of nine. The game would go into halftime at a 0-0 tie.

The second half is when Western fell flat. Three Bronchos rallied for goals and another four collected the assists.

In the 47th minute, Kenna Dyess had an assist from Emily Hahn to score from 20 yards out. The rally continued in the 65th minute when Sarah Purcell scored off of an assist from Kate Foran. The 72nd minute, Kimberly Linder scored from 10 yards out off of an assist from Stephanie Engster. Purcell would score again in the 88th minute off of a Nicole Voss assist.

UCO had 13 of 25 shots on goal. Goalkeepers Brandi Bartley and Emily Thornbrugh would have a collective five saves

Western would only get only get one more shot on goal, going five of eight in the contest. Goalkeeper Sarah Lyle would finish with seven saves.

Eight Griffons would collect shots, with midfielders Bailey Dervin and Teddi Serna, forwards Marissa Nolan and K.C. Ramsell and defender Sydney Andrews all having their’s on goal.

The Griffons fall to 2-7-1 on the season and 0-3 in MIAA play.

Western heads to Tahlequah, OK to play the RiverHawks of Northeastern State on Sunday, Oct. 6. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
