The Western Activities Council announced Wednesday the spring concert band playing at the Civic Arena on April 15 is Puddle of Mudd. Opening for Puddle of Mudd is Saliva.

WAC rotates between three genres every year, last year being country and the previous being rap. This spring’s rotation is rock.

As in the past, the event will be free to Missouri Western students, but other patrons will have to purchase tickets. Ticket prices have yet to be released.

This decision comes later than past announcements concerning the spring concert.

“The process has been difficult,” Executive Vice President Robin Ussher executive vice president said. “We’ve had some obstacles.”

President of WAC Lakeisha Caldwell said she was excited for the concert.

“I recognized both of the bands,” Caldwell said, “I saw Puddle of Mudd on TV not too long ago and I recognized Saliva and their songs. I like them.”

Caldwell also professed the rocky start that the band search process went through.

“We couldn’t get our first choice,” Caldwell said, “And we thought ‘man, that would have been a good band.”

The Kansas City brewed Puddle of Mudd reached mainstream heights when their hit single “She Hates Me” reached number 13 on the Billboard Charts.

In 2007, Puddle of Mudd released their album “Famous” which re-launched them on the mainstream, reaching and staying at number one on the Mainstream Rock Tracks and Hot Modern Rock Tracks charts for nine weeks.

Saliva, a lesser known band, is featured in the movie “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby” with their song “Click Click Boom.”

Both bands have been featured in different WWE soundtracks with the current ECW theme as Saliva’s “Don’t Question My Heart.”
