This fall is all about taking risks with your fashion choices by branching out and trying new styles and colors.

Long sweaters with leggings are one fashion idea that’s returning this year. Big cardigans in bright colors and darker leggings look good for every shape. Fun colors and crazy prints only make this style better.

Flat snow boots, like UGGs and the less expensive version, Bearpaw, are very popular this fall season. Paired with skinny jeans or leggings, they are a perfect match.
Missouri Western sophomore Haley Siela said that she’s most excited that p-coats will be in style again this season.

“They’re warm and comfortable but really cute, too.” Siela said. “I think they look good on everyone.”

Some women might think their bodies aren’t the right fit for leggings and a sweater. If you’d prefer a little extra cover, try pairing leggings with a jean skirt and a shirt instead.

Many celebrities have been seen lately in off the shoulder shirts and dresses. These free flowing shirts complement most body types and don’t show off any skin in inappropriate ways.

According to the November issue of Glamour Magazine, a style that’s very popular right now mirrors the fashion trends of ‘80s movie icons. Distressed leather jackets (for guys and girls!) adjacent to girly ruffles and vintage jewelry was the look of the era which is being reworked into today’s fashions.

Big jewelry with fun designs are also a necessity for all these cardigans and leggings this season. Missouri Western sophomore Ali Colboch says she likes to have fun with her jewelry.

“One necklace can change an entire outfit.” Colboch said. “I like to look for jewelry that no one else would have and try new things with it.”

For guys this season distressed jackets and vintage washed jeans are perfect for everyone. One fashion risk more and more guys are taking is to branch out with colors and go brighter.

Senior Michael Hickman admits that while he doesn’t know very much about fashion, he knows what he likes to wear and what looks good on him personally. “I wear what feels good to me!” Hickman said.

Shoes have been going through a self make over this season, too. Sweet looking stilettos have adopted rhinestones to give them a completely different look. With mini skirts and dresses or skinny jeans, your feet deserve to be shown off during fall! Enjoy the open toed shoes while you still can.

As for all seasons, the best fashion trends to follow are the ones that work best for you. If you wear what makes you feel confident and learn to set off your best assets, you’ll always look in style.
