Dorm Room Tune: Daniel Cole

September 17, 2009 1 CommentHave you ever wondered what your voice sounds like? Maybe you are a closet singer looking for a chance to hear your own voice.
Or maybe you rap and are looking for somebody that can create crazy beats. For whatever reason you might want your voice recorded, look no further than Scanlon Hall, because freshman Daniel Cole has a voice recording studio right in his small, compact, dorm room.
Daniel Cole, who has been recording since high school, decided to bring his passion with him everywhere he goes including MWSU.
“That’s my thing,” Cole said. “I like to record and make music. Music has been a big part of me. I couldn’t just leave it at home.”
Along with voice recording, Cole explains that he has many other talents. He plays the drums, writes lyrics, performs, makes beats, mixes and masters songs and produces as well.
“I’ve done stuff instrumental and for people who rap,” Cole said.

"They can come in and freestyle or record a set song. I will do whatever I can do and am able to do. It’s definitely what I want to do in my future. Music is my passion.”
As a beginning to a promising musical future, Cole has started charging students for his many services. The price is negotiable and could possibly be an interesting investment.
“I need a way to make money,” Cole said. “The price is negotiable but no lower than $20. We can work something out, just Facebook me.”
Along with beat making and mastering, Cole also has started his own musical dream team with his roommate Tyler Macoubrie and Scanlon neighbor, Seth Campbell. Both Macoubrie and Campbell add a lot to the team. Macoubrie plays the guitar, piano, bass and drums. Campbell plays the guitar, mandolin, bass, piano and designs and helps promote Cole’s work.
“Music Technology is my major also,” Macoubrie said. “And I’m his roommate; I have to put up with him.”
“I’m a business man and I do design and promotion for him,” Campbell said. “I can play music and help write too. I’m actually majoring in Music Business.”
Macoubrie, Campbell and Cole all plan to continue their music career together all throughout college and maybe even afterwards.
“We are all starting a band,” Cole said.
“I’d definitely be up [for something] in the future,” Campbell said.
There can be many ways to make money and have an enjoyable time while in school. Yet the opportunity to do something you love and actually make money on the side is an amazing opportunity. Daniel Cole and his dream team clearly show that anything is possible, even a three person band with a recording studio all set up in 12 by 19 foot dorm room
