The men’s basketball team barely secures a win over the Lincoln University Blue Tigers, 78-77.

Western was struggling throughout the game and could not overtake Lincoln.

The game came down to the last seconds with Western fans sitting on the edge of their seats.

The Griffons came within three points with the clock running down but could not secure the game-winning basket.

With 2 seconds to go, Lincoln’s Mata fouled and that sent Western’s Moss to the free-throw line to shoot for three points. With the game on the line, Moss delivered those crucial points giving Western the win.

With this win, the men’s basketball team goes to 2-0 for the season.

Western’s Moss and Bush was named members of the Hillyard Classic All-Star Team.

The men’s basketball team defeated the Upper Iowa University Peacocks 76-69. The Peacocks proved to be a very difficult opponent to beat with Western struggling to maintain a lead throughout the game. At one point in the game, Western was trailing behind the Peacocks but fought back to gain the lead and ultimately winning.

Jill Johnson scored 30 points and Yanique Javois scored 25 points to help win the game

The candidates for president and vice president wrestled with topics and each other’s ideas during the Griffon News sponsored debate.

Ring time was at 8 p.m. in Spratt Hall on Thursday Nov. 8, and the ladies came out swinging.  The first topic of contention was the student union and the problems that have recently been brought to light. Vice presidential candidate Jennifer Kohler pointed out that things have already changed there.

“The day the Griffon News article came out things began to change,” Kohler said. “We need to get the word out, and let students know when they’re acting foolish.”

Opposing candidate Emily Feger announced a new idea of moving the Student Government Association offices to the lobby of the Blum Student Union.  (Full story)

In a flurry of turnovers, penalties, questionable coaching decisions and all around bad play, the Griffons watched their storybook season turn into a nightmare in their final game.

This slip up by the Griffons not only costs them a home playoff game, but maybe the playoffs all-together. The Mineral Water Bowl may even be in doubt because of the debacle at Truman State 37-28. (Full story)

“All in the Timing” by David Ives was performed on Nov. 8, 9 and 10 at the Potter Hall Black Box Theatre.

There were a series of six-one act plays each night directed by 15 student directors and about 23 student actors. There were nine different plays shown from the book during the three nights. Attendance topped out at 121 with 17 vacant seats during the three nights. The admission fee was $4 a night. The acts played out were English Made Simple, Philip Glass Buys A Loaf of Bread, Mere Mortals, The Philadelphia, Variations of the Death of Trotsky, Sure Thing, Universal Language, A Singular Kind of Guy and Words, Words, Words.
