Missouri Western football falls to Northwest Missouri State
 
The Missouri Western football team lost Saturday night to Northwest Missouri State University, 44-20.
In the 1st quarter, Northwest scored 3 unanswered touchdowns; 2 were within the first 6 minutes of the game. A fumble by Missouri Western lead to one of those touchdowns.
After allowing Northwest to score 28 unanswered points, Missouri Western finally scored a touchdown with a reception by No. 7, Andrew Mead, in the 2nd quarter.
Missouri Western’s second touchdown came from a rushing touchdown in the 3rd quarter by running back Thomas Hodges, narrowing the score gap to 28-14.
The last Missouri Western touchdown was a reception by Mead in the 4th quarter. Missouri Western failed to make a 2-point conversion off of that touchdown. The score was 38-20.
Northwest, however, would answer that touchdown by another of their own making the final score 44-20. They missed the ensuing field goal kick.
Other highlights of the game:
Drew Newhart, Missouri Western’s quarterback, was sacked 3 times in a drive late in the 4th quarter.
An on-side kick by Northwest led to them scoring the last touchdown of the game.
Missouri Western football is now 2-1 for the season.
