With the departure of Student Employment Coordinator Jeff Wilson, MissouriWestern is in search of someone to fill his shoes.

Wilson left Western this year and went to work at a law firm in Kansas City. Since he wants to attend law school in the future, he couldn’t say no.

“It was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up,” said Wilson.

Many students and faculty are lamenting his departure, including his former co-worker and the Career Development Coordinator, Linda Garlinger.

“The staff and faculty are still in mourning of this loss,” said Garlinger. “He was so good at doing his job and relating to the students.”

When Wilson told the Employment Office he was leaving, they decided to throw a going away party for him.

“We had a huge turnout at the party with students and faculty because of how well he was liked,” said Garlinger.

Wilson was faced with a hard decision when the job offer arose. However, the time he spent working at Western was a good experience.

“I really enjoyed my time at Western,” said Wilson, “I worked with and met some really great people.”

The Employment Office has continued to move forward despite the loss.

They have been searching for someone to replace Wilson for a while now and hope to fill the void soon.

“We are in the final stages of hiring someone and it should be happening soon,” said Garlinger.

This loss is one of several Western has endured in the past few months.

However, the future is still bright. With people leaving because of the recent notoriety, Western should be able to bring in some good people to fill the holes that have been left.
