EHMWhile some students went home for the first time since Christmas this spring break and others went to the beach to soak up some sun, a handful of Missouri Western students and staff were enjoying an Extreme Spring Break in Kansas City.

Missouri Western students, staff and alumni traveled to Kansas City March 12-19 to volunteer for ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” to help transform the Jacobo family home. The show will air May 13 at 7 p.m. (Full story)

Twenty commercial music students from Western were invited to work the 38th annual Country Radio Seminar in Nashville, Feb. 28 to March 2. Specifically requested by the CRS due to their demonstrated ability last year, Western students were tasked with everything from setting up for the performers to providing video and audio support. Roland Smith, author and zoologist, spoke at Western to encourage reading and awareness of environmental issues. The St. Joseph Area Literacy Coalition, in partnership with the International Reading Association, was responsible for bringing him to this region. (Full story)
